3LPE means 3 layers polyethylene coating it is a multilayer coating. Layer 1 coating consist of Fusion Bonded Epoxy. Layer 2 consist of copolymer adhesive where as Layer 3 includes the layer of polyethylene. It provides excellent corrosion protection and mechanical protection for oil & gas pipelines at operating temperature up to 80oC.The 3LPE coated pipes can be used in the high temperature as high as 60oC to 80oC. Latest Manufacturing techniques allow for a customized 3LPE system to your specific project.
The 3LPE System accomplish remarkable long term corrosion resistance and superior mechanical protection for small and large diameter pipelines operating at high temperature only because of strong adhesion of FBE to steel and the tough outer layer of high density polyethylene. The 3LPE system it can be applied in a huge range of thicknesses to connect project specifications and requirements.
The three coating layers in 3-LPE coated pipe are as follows:
Layer 1: Layer 1 is known as the corrosion protective layer. It is made of fusion bonded epoxy which gives very good corrosion protection. The fusion bonded epoxy has a very good bonding with the blasted steel surface.
Layer 2: Layer 2 consist of copolymer adhesive. The copolymer adhesive is a maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene compound. The material has good chemical bonding to the fusion bonded epoxy and the top layer polyethylene.
Layer 3: Layer3 consist of polyethylene and it is for physical protection. Because the copolymer adhesive and polyethylene are similar, they suits well with each other
